Campfire Stories is or at least was a story of three characters, Ember (she/her), Dunes (he/him), and Zoe (they/them).
It would take place from the perspective of Dunes, a lonesome blue wolf from beyond the mirror's threshold, attempting to find a way home. The story would've taken place through 4 major parts, which would be in this order:

Part 1 - Mirrored
Part 2 - Zoe
Part 3 - Forestry
Part 4 - Threshold

Mirrored would be Dunes's introduction to this new strange world through meeting Ember, the nearly identical red wolf. This part would be rather short, ending in Ember contacting Zoe, her childhood friend, as they had been researching the threshold for years.

Zoe, predictably, would be when Dunes meets Zoe, a raccoon and local researcher in the town, who has been waiting for a day like this nearly their whole life. They inform the two of them that there's a threshold in the forest just north of town, and that Dunes, being a Meiro, can activate the threshold by simply walking through it, but they should be wary of danger within the forest.

Forestry begins their journey to the Threshold, but along the way Dunes starts realizing that, for the first time ever, he actually has people who care about him. This begins a wave of conflicting emotions, wanting to go home, but wanting to stay.

Threshold is the end, the trio reaches the aforementioned Threshold, and as expected, declines returning to his world. Ember and Zoe are confused, but understand once Dunes elaborates more on this. This part would end by showing a few scenes of Dunes's new life post-journey.

Unfortunately though, This is a Lot to work on, and unfortunately we're not exactly in a place to actually develop this story beyond the basic concept. Though, of course, this could change at some point in the future. Here's hoping it does, honestly, because we REALLY want to see this story finished at some point.
