Home • Sick
Home Sick is a bit of a weird song, originally being named "Time Trial" and being in an older (now removed) album from 2023. The original intention of the song was to evoke the sense of "Returning someplace you really don't want to.", after an experience we had just a few days before its creation. Like most songs of ours, the demo name didn't really have any meaning, as it was simply "what sounds like a good title?"
Concurrency
Concurrency is one of the few songs in this one that wasn't a remaster/revival. (well, sorta. technically it's a revival of the concept of a song that got abandoned back in 2022 (which was originally named "Heaven and Hell, All at Once", albeit going in a completely different direction.) This one actually has an alternate version of it, which was made for Trackside Recap 2025, where the intro is cut for time, as seen below.
Blossom
Blossom is a rather short and sweet one. The crushed sample starting in the intro was inspired by femtanyl - KATAMARI, and the rest of the song was kinda just improv, honestly. The inspiration for the name was simply that this was the first song we'd made post-AESIA 2 that we actually liked quite a lot, thus "Blossoming" a new actually good song.
Hellway
Hellway is another unusual case, being sort of a revival of an old song, but going in quite a more polished direction. Originally this one was titled "Mdecay", which didn't really have any meaning to it. The name Hellway was simply because we thought flipping the a in Hallway upside down to make it Hell was Cool, Actually. (ps: the original "Mdecay" was made in 2022)
(Will this affect the) trout population?
Okay, first off, what the hell is the name? Well, rather stupid story actually. The .flp name for this one was "Mike", and we were like "what can we come up with based on that, since we can't think of anything good while listening to it?" and the first thought was "Mike Ehrmantraut." So we initially just called it Trout, but then one of us were like "okay but what if it was a reference to that 'how will this affect the fishing economy' joke", and well, here we are. As for the actual song itself, it was partially made as a result of an attempt at making a track for something story related (Campfire Stories, to clarify), which used the sorta "record scratch"-y sounds to represent punching a mirror. (followed by that mirror shattering, of course) After we had made that track we were like, "woah. these record scratch noises are kinda cool actually. Fuck it, lets make something with this!" and, well, Mike.flp was made. (ps: it was made back in 2022!)
Unstrifed
Unstrifed is strange. Genuinely, we don't remember making it like, At All. We were just browsing our old .flp library poking around for inspiration, and we found something called "madscientist.flp", and well, this song was just kinda There. Completed already, mixed, everything. Though, we did have to adjust the mixing, and IIRC we extended it a bit with some misc melody changes, but... still. Apparently this was made in 2022? As for the name, we decided on Unstrifed, as the .flp name made us indirectly think of Doctor (from HomeStuck)
Minimality
We don't really have any memory making this one either, but it's pretty much untouched since late 2023. Title was kinda just a "this sounds cool, especially when paired with the song" moment.
Repeating Liminality
Okay, this one DOES kinda have some lore to it. The original attempt at the song was released back in 2023, as part of an album that no longer exists, and was titled "Lying on the bed, eyes closed." This one was very much so initially made as a vent project, and the melody near the end would practically shatter, being entirely broken near the end of it.
Not only was the melody un-fucked in the final release, but the original was slightly longer due to having a much more... pretentious intro. Technically this song is a sequel to an ANCIENT song of ours all the way back from 2018, but, the thread from there to here is very, very loose.
Upcoming Bulletin
Originally made as an intro for Trackside Recap's predecessor, this song was extended into a sorta "murder mystery news broadcast"-esque song, which honestly given what little we had to work with, I'd say came out pretty well.
Oddly enough, this is one of the rare instances of us actually having a recording of the original draft for the song! It's... pretty empty.
Airomatica
Speaking of rare instances, Airomatica is one of those "i had external help to make this one" songs, as the intro/outro were both influenced by Fluster, along with the name of the track itself. Airomatica was kinda just made up on a whim, quite literally being finished the same day as the album's release, actually. Intially it was created as a way to vent our frustrations with having run out of creativity, and it was this song that made us realize that we really do just need to be more experimental with our art. Here's hoping we actually learned that lesson, though.
